KeynoteDr. Yaozhong Xin"The Application of IEEE 1588 in Power Grid". There are more than thousand smart substations have been built in China, most of them use IEEE 1588 technology to synchronize the Intelligent Electric Devices (IED) in substation, such as protection relay, phase measurement unit (PMU), merging unit (MU) and LAN switches. Some experience and lessons learned will be discussed. Dr. Yaozhong Xin, Professional Senior Engineer and Investigator of the National Electric Power Dispatching and Control Center of State Grid Corporation of China(SGCC) Dr. Yaozhong Xin is a Professional Senior Engineer, now he is an investigator of the National Electric Power Dispatching and Control Center of State Grid Corporation of China(SGCC), the Secretary-general of Chinese National standards committee of Power Grid operation and Control (SAC/TC446), the Vice Chairman of Chinese National standards committee of Power System Management and Associated Information exchange (SAC/TC82), a member of IEC TC57 WG13 and WG19, a Senior Member of IEEE, the Chairman of Smart Grid Committee and member of Governor Board of the GO15 (International Very Large Power Grid Operators).
KeynoteDr. Michael Johas Teener"A Time-Sensitive Networking Primer: Putting it All Together". Time-sensitive networking is actually a really old idea... it has always been a requirement in some sense. Ever since packet switching became the norm, however, the time-sensitive capabilities of a network have scaled poorly with network speed. They have, in fact, typically become worse. Fortunately, we are now in the middle of a transition back towards time-awareness in networks with major standardization efforts in both the IEEE and IETF. This presentation will outline how and where this is being done, and summarizing the technology, giving pointers to more detailed information and examples of deployed systems. Dr. Michael Johas Teener,Senior Technical Director of Broadcom Michael Johas Teener is a Senior Technical Director at Broadcom working on time-sensitive and high performance/low cost network technologies. Prior to that he was the technical lead of Apple's FireWire effort, helped design a couple of early distributed digital PBXs , and was the project lead / system architect for the data processor hardware and software of very leading-edge radar and sonar systems. He is the chair of the IEEE 802.1 Time-Sensitive Networking Task Group and chaired/kickstarted a number of earlier IEEE standards for networks and system interconnection. He has a B.S. in Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and an M.S. in Engineering Systems from UCLA, and is listed as the inventor on 62 U.S. Patents. The California license plate on his 2004 Suzuki SV650 is "8O21AVB" and on his 2001 Toyota Avalon it's "FIREWIR" .
