Welcome

Welcome to the 2015 International IEEE Symposium on Precision Clock Synchronization for Measurement, Control, and Communication (ISPCS) to be held in Beijing, China.

It is Kyland's great honor to introduce ISPCS 2015, the 9th ISPCS conference, to China and Asia. Due to the fast growing demand for IEEE 1588 technologies in the Chinese power grid and telecom markets, China has already become the biggest IEEE 1588 market in the world. State Grid Corporation of China invested US$51 billion in 2013 constructing the Robust Smart Power Grid, and hundreds of IEEE 1588-based substations have been constructed in the past five years. Valuable deployment experience of the latest IEEE 1588 technologies has been gathered from Chinese IEEE 1588-based substations. A large number of Chinese companies are involved with IEEE 1588 technologies like Kyland and Digigrid. We expect the most attendees and sponsors in ISPCS history this year.

As the most influential organization focusing on technologies of precision clock synchronization, ISPCS has chosen China as its next stop because of the fast growing IEEE 1588 (also known as PTP) technologies and applications in the Chinese market, and this is also the first time ISPCS comes to Asia. The hosting of ISPCS in China will help attract more Asian attendees and provide a good opportunity for full communication of PTP technologies and deployment experience between the west and the east.

The ISPCS provides an outstanding opportunity for attendees to hear about the latest topics, learn about state-of-the-art advancements, and see current solutions in the area of precise clock synchronization. The Plugfest provides an opportunity to test and demonstrate IEEE 1588-based device and system interoperability and to resolve compatibility issues. Implementers are invited and encouraged to cooperate with others to demonstrate system-wide clock synchronization and operation of protocols across as wide a spectrum of devices as possible. This year we also have two special sessions called Industry Day and Tutorials. Key end users and customers of PTP technologies in China are invited to attend Industry Day, and companies are invited to present their products/prototypes in the form of an exhibition as well. The aim of the symposium is to provide a forum in which researchers and practitioners from industry, academia, and government involved in precise clock synchronization using IEEE 1588 or similar techniques and protocols can exchange ideas.

In order to ensure the success of the event, Kyland has invited Gongkong.com, the largest industrial automation control portal in China, to be the local media partner who can help with online promotion and invitations, as well as comprehensive and timely reports for the conference. Gongkong.com will invite 3000+ company members of the ZGC Gongkong Advanced Manufacturing Industry Alliance to participate in ISPCS 2015.

Beijing, the capital of China for about 850 years, is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, offering China's most wonderful array of attractions. No other city in the nation attracts more travelers. Today Beijing has become an international metropolis, being the cultural, educational, and technological center of China. Seven hundred years ago, amazed by Marco Polo's unbelievable description of China, Europeans asked him whether his stories were true. He answered, "What I have told you is not even half of what I saw." In this spirit we would like to invite you to join ISPCS 2015 for exploration and adventure in the city of Beijing, which is a mixture of ancient and modern, mystery and fashion.
